BRACES VS INVISIBLE BRACES

Braces vs invisible aligners

If you have misaligned teeth, you might be wondering what options you have to straighten your teeth. Here at Bible Hill Family Dentistry, Dr. Morine will establish a correct diagnosis based on orthodontic records; x-rays, photographs, and diagnostic models, and he will customize a treatment plan that best adapts to your case in particular.

Braces

  • They remain visible
  • They are bonded to teeth and cannot be removed by the patient, making the treatment infallible.
  • Traditional braces are considerably more effective than their counterparts for people with severely crooked teeth.
  • There is some discomfort at the initial stage of treatment, but it will decrease after a couple of days.
  • You must brush and floss your teeth several times a day.
  • Hard, sticky and chewy food must be avoided.

Invisible aligners

  • They are invisible and highly unnoticeable when worn.
  • Invisible braces are removable, you can take them out to eat, brush and floss.
  • They must remain in the mouth a minimum of 22 hours a day.
  • There is some discomfort at the initial stage of treatment, but it will decrease after a couple of days.
  • You cannot eat or drink with invisible aligners in your mouth.
  • Because they are removable, aligners can be easily lost or damaged.
Both appliances are excellent treatment options, but the decision on which type of treatment to use will be based on the treatment’s goals, patient’s needs, the severity of each case and patient’s compliance.
